How to get toddler to brush teeth?!

My 2 year old does not like brushing her teeth... I have tried everything! Tried playing brush your teeth songs for her to watch while brushing, Absolutely everything but she runs away from brushing... I give her the brush to do it herself, she licks the toothpaste, throws the toothbrush and runs away. I don’t know what else to do

I sing a song I made up to the tune of row row row your boat. Brush brush brush your teeth gently down the stream (I know but oh well 😬) get the germs away so your teeth are clean. I sing it about three times before I am done brushing. Then I give him the toothbrush with water to brush some. We also got him an Elmo toothbrush and he loves that. I have heard you can let them brush your teeth too if they are scared.

We tried all of those things too. The only thing that has worked is me brushing his teeth at the same time he is brushing mine. It’s a bit awkward as he’s often stabbing me in the side of the mouth etc. but it means I get a really good go at his teeth. Every time I try the ‘your turn, my turn’ thing it doesn’t work but I hope to get there eventually.

My oldest went through a phase like this when she was 2. I made a reward bag and sticker chart for her. Every time she brushed her teeth she got to pick something out of the bag and put a sticker on her chart. It worked like a charm.

He watches me and then I ask if he wants to tickle his teeth too, he always giggles but let’s me.

Brush with her OR do what I did and just put her on the bed, pin her arms gently but firmly with your legs on either side, and hold her head with one hand while brushing with the other. I literally had to wrestle my 2.5 year old for 3 months while she went through this phase. Now at 3 she will brush her teeth 10x a day if I let ler. I was terrified of her getting silver caps on her teeth cuz there was a boy her age in her head start program that had them on the front 4 😳

My one year old basically does the same thing lol
Brushing our teeth in front of her helped. I've even let her brush my teeth. (watch out. 😂)
We also do a very exaggerated wiggle thing while we brush. That makes it fun.
Lots of different playful singing and chanting.
She had these easy to grab toothbrushes. I think we just got them from Walmart... But it's a rounded handle. 
Maybe try a new toothbrush. With a fun character on it? 
A different toothpaste might help too since they're already used to eating the one you have.

My son is 18 months but he'd have full meltdowns when I tried to brush his teeth. Now either daddy does it or I have to be brushing my teeth with him for him to let me brush his.
