EBF TO FORMULA !!!? HELP!!!!

My daughter is 3.5 months old. Ebf, but hasn’t taken a bottle since 1 month old. I tried formula cold turkey, she hated it! I tried pumping and mixing breast milk and formula and she still hates it. Im thinking maybe it’s the bottle ? But she gets this disgusting look on her face like she hates the milk. I’m giving her Enfamil Gentle ease in the Avent nipple like bottles. Lol smh WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Have you tried pumping and feeding her breast milk in a bottle? If she takes that happily then it’s the formula, not the bottle.

Check the flow rate of the nipple. I have this problem when I used a flow rate that was too high for my little one. Since you are switching from ebf, you may need to consider a newborn nipple (#0) as it is closer to the flow from mom.

Is there a reason you started with the Gentlease option?  The main ingredient in that one is corn syrup solids as it is intended for babies who can’t tolerate regular formula (where milk or lactose is the first ingredient), so it’s probably extra different than your breast milk to her.  I’m sure many babies do it fine, but I just wanted to mention it.  If she doesn’t have a known problem with formula, it may be worth trying a regular one first.

My son was the exact same. He would absolutely refuse bottles and go on a hunger strike until I nursed him. We tried Comotomo and Dr Browns bottles and he seems to like the Dr Browns. My parents “tricked” him into taking a bottle the first few times. When he would wake up from his long nap, ready for a feed, they would offer him the bottle before he was fully awake. He would start drinking it and then as he woke up, continue drinking it. We also did a dream feed using a bottle for a few days. Now he seems to be ok with the bottle and takes it even when he’s alert.

I read you're a single mom (seriously, you're amazing, my mom did it and I have no idea how) but is there anyone else who could give her the bottle? I always imagine it's like us walking into Pizza Hut and being told we have to have the salad...like, your boob is right there, why should she take this substitute? Also make sure she's not starving. Try it about an hour after nursing if you can.

Maybe she doesn't like the formula? My girl hated Enfamil. We had better luck with Similac

My little buddy was the same way when I was trying to get him to take a bottle in preparation for going back to work. For us, it was just a matter of perseverance. I would offer a bottle every couple of feeds and switch to bf when he got cranky. After about 10 days (it took a while) he got more used to the bottle and formula and after about 3 weeks he was all about the bottles, but it was a lot of persistence on my part until he was used to the change. I did a mixture of bf and bottle for a long time and now at 10 months my supply is dwindling and he seems to prefer the bottle. Such a change from his resistance in the beginning 🤷‍♀️ Good luck Momma!
