Uterus measuring ahead? What does it mean

Hey, 
So, I had an appointment with my obgyn Thursday and she said my uterus is measuring ahead. I'm 22 weeks...but my uterus is measuring at 28 weeks. I tried to ask her what that means...and she did not give a clear answer to why or what it may indicate. Anyone else?

I had a sono at 18 weeks...baby seemed to only be measuring ahead by one day

It means absolutely nothing and the measurement is different from woman to woman and is inaccurate in dating a pregnancy. It becomes even more inaccurate as your pregnancy progresses. Ultrasounds to measure and give you an estimate in the baby's weight are also usually off by a pound or two in either direction. BTW, my uterus is much bigger than other women's and I look much bigger than 25 weeks, but this is my second baby and third pregnancy. Many OBs don't even measure the uterus anymore because it is so inaccurate. I have one old school doctor that measures my uterus and all three of my others who are younger do not.

For me it ment that baby was growing larger than average, if you keep measuring ahead your ob may moniter it closer. My 1st measured ahead and my ob said he was going to be large and if he measured too large we would discuss possible induction or c-section closer to due date.. But closer  birth he was an estimated 8 lbs and there wasn't any medical intervention.

It's not super accurate. I think it depends on how baby is positioned too. It makes sense to me. Your belly could be bigger because of how baby is laying. My son was measuring a week ahead of schedule at my 20 week sonogram but at 24 weeks he was measuring right on time. Every baby is different. It shouldn't change your due date either unless your doctor says otherwise.
