Asking for earlier induction?

Has anyone ever asked their doctor to induce earlier? Tentatively my Dr wants to induce me at 39 weeks due to GD. That brings me to the 24th. My husband needs to give work  date he can return and they are pushing for the 27th. ( he has been off since march 11 due to Covid) I would like him to be able to be home and spend time with his son before leaving away for work for 2 weeks.

I have GD and mine is diet controlled so I’m not getting induced until Wednesday at 40 weeks. They only let me go as early as that.

Unfortunately they legally can’t go earlier than 39 weeks without there being a medical issue like hypertension or preeclampsia where yours or baby’s life are on the line. I’m being induced because of gd at 39+2

They won’t without a medical reason. I have GD and it is not considered a reason to induce earlier than 39 weeks.

I totally get this! I’m getting a c-section Thursday (exactly 39 weeks) and I begged to have it sooner due to my husband not having time off. Although I wanted him to help me and bond with his daughter, I really wanted them to do it sooner so that I could have my moms help to heal properly. My mom has tome off right now but goes back the day before my c-section. I just hope I heal properly from my c-section because all the restrictions they give you like “don’t bend or lift” aren’t gonna happen if I’m alone. I know this will be a mental and physical toll on me and to be honest it makes me not look forward to becoming a mom sometimes. I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I hope you get a better answer than I did 🤞🏻❤️
