Anyone else?

I’ve had the “just wait” comments from my family here and there about the lack of sleep, difficulty having a baby, etc. I’m a first time mom. No one has just taken the time to tell me “you’re going to be a good mom.” It honestly makes me emotional. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Nobody told me I would be a good mom other than my husband.
But, once baby was here and started growing and developing, a few relatives commented on how it was so visible on her that we had expected her with love and care from the very beginning. They said with this that whatever we had been doing was good parenting I think.
. 
And yes, there are all those difficulties. You'll have a hard time then and then and then... And if you're a good mom you will still feel helpless from time to time.
But you will also think to yourself that "I knew what I was getting into, I knew it would be difficult... Now it is difficult. Time to face the music." and you'll hold your baby through an hour long cry and be patient and loving. 
You'll be a good mom. Not because you'll smile and be happy despite barely sleeping and baby demanding attention at 5am, but because knowing that it will be so very hard, you're still going into it, wanting it, and you're trying your best already to be a good mom.

“I just say “oh don’t worry, I’m ready for it. Bring it on.” And that seems to get people to stop 😂 my husband and I tried for almost three years for this babe so I’m not letting people get away with those comments. We are well aware it’ll be difficult. It’s not a surprise to us lol

I've had some people hit me with those "just wait" comments but honestly I don't worry or stress about it. Everyone will have their own individual experiences and even though yes there will be sleepless nights for a while as you try to get adjusted to things but I was told once baby's born it almost comes natural to care for your baby. I'm a FTM too so you're not alone but I know how you feel. You don't have to let it bother you though. It will be okay. You just have to know that you will be a good mom no matter if anyone tells you or not. If they won't tell you then I sure will. YOU WILL BE A GREAT MOM & YOU WILL LOOK AFTER YOUR BABY UNLIKE NO OTHER. YOU WILL BE YOUR BABY'S PROTECTOR!! YOU WILL DO GREAT!!💪🏽💪🏽❤❤

I had some that said that. Mostly it came from my SIL. She had her first at 17 and I had my first at 34. She has always held her motherhood over me as it shows how mature she is 🙄. Obviously she has some growing to do, lol. You will be a great mother!! Congratulations💕💕

I HATED when people said stuff like that to me when I was pregnant with my first. Like it was a joke or something? It’s not funny that postpartum can be hard, and it’s not funny that pregnancy can be hard. It’s EXTRAORDINARY that women create people inside them and become mothers. You are going to be a great mother, and you should be allowed to talk about what’s difficult without being dismissed or turned into a joke. You are amazing. And happy first Mother’s Day.

This is why we haven’t announced or told anyone other than immediate friends and family were pregnant. I swear you get pregnant and all common decency goes out the window. Everyone decides it’s time to give you every ounce of rude, unsolicited advice you never asked for. The “just you wait” comments make me furious. 
I just wanna say hang in there mama ❤️ you WILL be an amazing mama and are already off to a great start. Your baby is so lucky to have you and I wish you every ounce of happiness

Mostly I was told that I'd be a great mom 🤷 but I also had been babysitting most of their kids or grandkids since I was a kid myself, and was a caregiver for a lot of their elderly parents, so they knew what I was like in a caregiving position, how I handled emergencies and how I was with kids. I was also "warned" about the rough nights, and all the horror stories, but since I had so much experience with other people's kids I knew why they were warning me 😂 I just took it as their way of trying to be helpful. I don't think most people mean it in a malicious way. Before your have a newborn, pregnancy is the hardest thing you've been through (involving having your own kids), once you have a newborn the pregnancy and delivery is now a memory of something you got through, so the new struggle is having a newborn, then having a newborn seems easy while you're dealing with a toddler because you already got through the newborn phase... So on and so forth until your children are raised and have children of their own and then you have different struggles lol. Parenting is tough in all stages, every stage is just different. You got this momma, don't let it get to you ❤️ you will be, and already are a great mom.

People love to talk about the bad/hard stuff.
I feel like they forget to be a sensitive human. If you’re even thinking of this, I know you’ll be a good mom! Not everything will come easy. And they shouldn’t. You’ve never done this before.
Some things will be so natural. And they should. You were made for this mama! Forget what everyone else is saying and not saying, you’ve got this and will be amazing!!

That happened with my last baby. And guess what? He’s 17 months and has been sleeping a full 11-12 hours each night since he was 4 months. Yes, you will be tired at first and it sucks. But all children sleep eventually. Just remind yourself of that.

Honestly, I wish more people would have been brutally honest with me about how difficult the newborn stage would be. I honestly felt like something was wrong with me because everyone kept telling me how much I would enjoy baby once she arrived and I had her in my arms. No one told me how difficult it would be to have a newborn. This is my second child and I am absolutely dreading the newborn stage. Granted, everyone’s experience is different but expecting the worst and hoping for the best prepares me mentally than being blind sided with something that is actually super difficult.
