Crappy mom on Mother’s Day?

Question

Anyone else feel like they don’t deserve to be celebrated on Mother’s Day? This is the second night in a row I have had to have hubby come in and out the baby down to bed. He gets him down in two seconds and I can’t get him to stay asleep at all. I just feel like a terrible mom

No. Do I think I’m the best mom? Nope. But I know that everyday I do my best. My son is happy, safe, and loved. I don’t know why woman are so damn hard on themselves. As long as you’re doing your best, you’re good enough.

You’re not alone. I had that thought many times over the past few weeks leading up to Mother’s Day. I also struggle with getting my LO to sleep and feel like a failure when I can’t. My husband has to step in to help a lot, and I often cry afterward. 
I know that women SHOULDN’T be hard on ourselves, but it’s difficult not to be, sometimes, when society has drilled the idea of the mothering role into our heads our whole lives. It was only after becoming a mother that I learned how difficult it really can be sometimes.
Personally, after having these thoughts pervade my life totally for a week or two, I reached out to my dr for help. I am now talking to a counselor regularly, and it has helped. I’m not suggesting you need to do this, but I’ve been in your shoes for sure, and I knew I needed to get myself in a better mental state and couldn’t do it without a professional.

It's actually super common for dads to have an easier time of getting kids down to bed. Not sure why, I've heard it's because they can smell your milk or something but who knows. A friend posted something on Facebook about it, but for some reason I can't share the image. "According to survey results, it's easier for dads to make babies fall asleep." It has no bearing on how good of a mother you are

No.. I do a lot for my baby. I recognize that. And I don’t need validation or appraisal. But I’m allowed to feel proud and happy with myself at the end of the day even though I know I’m not perfect, I know I’m doing my best everyday at being the best mom I can be. I know I love my daughter and she’s well taken care of and has everything she needs. I agree with the other commenter. Women are too hard on themselves. We are amazing and strong. And so what if your husband has to help?! He should :) he’s just as much of a parent as you are ❤️
