Did your period end after you got an IUD?

I have had the hormonal Mirena IUD for almost 1 year now. My doctor said it would limit my cramps and stop my period. Well, it has made my cramps worse, I break out during my periods now, and the bleeding has INCREASED! I went from a 5 day period to a 8-10 day period. What has your experience been like? Does it get better than this?

It stops periods in up to 20% of users. So 80% of users will still get some type of period. Irregular bleeding is a side effect that can occur at any time during the duration of the use of the iud. 
Irregular bleeding includes heavier bleeding, spotting between periods, periods closer together or farther apart, lighter periods, prolonged bleeding, no bleeding. You can have this the entire time or it can change. 
My periods went from 7 days without birth control to none after 4 months. Ive had it almost 2 years now and havent had a period since. Im one of the lucky ones. But most women still have periods. Doctors need to stop telling women it will take away their periods because not 100% of users stop having periods.

Ive had Mirena for 16months now and still get periods. Before mine were 5 days, but now are around 8/9 days. The first few months though were up to 3 weeks of bleeding at a time. So it’s slowly decreased.

Mine gave me a 6 month long period made my cramps worse and threw off my entire ph balance my hormones got fucked up my body couldn’t handle it so I had it removed but everyone is different.

My period was 9-10 days before Mirena and after getting it they stopped within 2 months. It's been 2 years now and they have come back but they are light spotting for a few days

I had bleeding once I got it in 6 months ago. Since then I’ve had maybe 4 days total of spotting. I do get cramping before spotting. I have heard from multiple people that their cramping gets worse after getting the mirena IUD.
