Is it offensive to call yourself a “bonus mom”?

An acquaintance on Facebook always calls herself a “bonus mom” or says her “bonus child”. She has two other kids that she just calls her kids.

Do I personally think it's kind of dumb saying? yes
But if that's what someone wants to say so what 🤷‍♀️ I'm not in that situation so I can't really what I would say, or what feels right.

I have divorced parents and an amazing step mom. Personally I don't find it offensive however I am not a fan of the term. I would not like it if my (step) mom called me a bonus child instead of just her child.

I've got 3 kiddos- 1 of which is my "bonus boy" the only time I refer to him as a bonus child is usually on here explaining certain things or if it's a situation that it's needed to be known.. and even then I never usually say it infront of him not because I find it offensive but because he is mine and I don't separate him from the 2 kids I birthed if it's not absolutely necessary (he knows everything it's not like we're hiding anything it's just what works for us).. his birth mother isn't in his life so I understand it makes our situation a lot different... but I do find the term kinda funny/silly but it personally sounds better than "step" I hate the term "step"  🤷‍♀️

I don’t think it’s offensive. I think it’s kinda tacky. I just don’t know why we label what kind of child they are. If someone asks for more details sure tell them. If they don’t ask I’d just say this is my child. My best friend has step parents and when introducing them to people she just says these are my parents. The parents just say this is our daughter.

I don't think it's offensive but I do think it's weird. My older sister did this with her stepchild before she had kids
