Successful Egg Retreival - Here was my experience !

Hi everyone!

My egg retrieval was successful, I woke up sitting in a leather recliner chair and not remembering how I got to that chair.

I was super drowsy 💤 and out of it but remember thinking the head pad on my lower stomach felt incredibly soothing as my pelvic area was super crampy . I was trembling a lot, I guess this is a normal after effect of anesthesia.

The nurse checked in on me and provided me with a cup of water and some lays potato chips. She said they would release me after I could empty my bladder

First bathroom attempt did not work so they gave me more water. That one did the trick, and I had a successful pee! Lol

I was still super trembly but much more with it than when I originally woke up. The nurse went over instructions - they were pretty lengthy - I was not ready for that.

Thank god it was all typed up because there was no way I could remember all that! They escorted me outside when my husband arrived to pick me up. Now we are making a pit stop at a grocery store to buy salty foods, Gatorade, and some additional medications that were prescribed.

God is good! I’m so looking forward to relaxing on the couch 🛋 Hope this post is helpful to those wondering what egg retrieval is like 🥰

We are warriors ladies, we can do this because we are resilient 💪🏽 Thank you all for tagging along this journey with me-it may be an app- but I have felt the love and support all along ❤️🥰

The retrieval is what I’m most nervous about. But I’m not looking forward to the excessive amounts of ultrasounds and injections 😭 , how bad was the injections!?? Also congrats!! Crossing my fingers for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼

@Kelsey I second @LaBori I am on day 5 of stims and it seems my stomach is getting more sensitive day by day. It is not a terrible pain but icing before the injection definitely seems to help when I can remember to do it. My hubby is doing the shots for me and has been altering the sides each day. Good luck to you!

Yay! So glad that step is over for both of us! My experience was pretty similar. I remember them waking me up in the surgery room after but then remember waking up again on a different bed in a little room after 😂. Will you hear tomorrow how many mature/fertilized ?

Sounds like it went very well!! Awesome! I’ve loved seeing your boards everyday :) Also- I had no idea until I was on this app that most everyone is put to sleep for retrieval, I was not!! I guess that’s how my clinic operates so I didn’t know any difference. It wasn’t exactly the most pleasant experience!!! Lol. Are you doing a fresh or frozen transfer?!

Lol yea I was pretty nervous! They did right in one of the rooms at our clinic that was attached to the lab. They gave me a pain pill and a Xanax right before but it didn’t do much. It was prob only 15 minutes it it felt like FORever 😫 He retrieved 29 eggs so that’s why it took awhile. I mean I didn’t exactly like it but it’s one of those things you just buckle down and get through. It was tolerable for a short time. And I guess it was neat to see my Dr and embryologist doing their thing and counting as they were retrieving. I believe if keeps the entire cost down, so I’m okay with it! Although I told my husband next time I’m going to ask for a double dose and may even sneak a couple shots of whiskey beforehand 😂😂 jk jk🤷🏼‍♀️ How exciting for you I bet you’re on cloud 9! When is transfer??

Omgosh I can believe having done it without anesthesia, you poor lady! I’ll be doing a frozen transfer 🥶
