Is sex always supposed to hurt?

So I've noticed that penetration always hurts for me. No matter if it's my fingers or a dick it always hurts. I've had sex a few times and the last time I had it I was shaking from how bad the pain was. I've been tested for stds and I'm all clean. Could it be from trauma? I was molested for most of my childhood. The only time I feel like pleasure from anything sexual is from mainly my clit. Is this normal?

yes i have the same thing. it’s called vaginismus and it’s basically ptsd for the vagina. i heard sex therapy helps. i just know that because of it sex has always been painful for me

Could be from your trauma, you should see a sex therapist. Fingering doesn’t Hurt me but penetration does. I think I’m on the dryer side so lube fixes everything I’ll still get little bit of pain with lube but it usually goes away once I get adjusted

No, especially seeing that women can vaginally give birth to 5-10lb babies. You should try some water based lube or do more foreplay prior to intercourse. If sex is painful 9/10 there’s a problem.

I had issues after pregnancy with painful sex and saw a pelvic floor physical therapist who helped teach me how to relax those muscles. It took several months for sex to not hurt anymore. Your muscles can tense up and it may be worse considering what you’ve been through. I think a pelvic floor PT plus some sort of counseling to help with the mental side of things could be helpful. It also takes a really supportive and patient partner who is willing to go super slow and listen to you and stop immediately if you start feeling any pain.
