Anxious about hitting that 36+ ! Are you anxious ?

This is my first baby and everybody scares me about the pain of labor and now I’m really scared of giving birth. Does anybody else feel
Like this ? I have never had a stay at the hospital or a big procedure so I’m terrified.

It’s natural to be anxious the first time around. Try to just get educated as much as possible, and try and come up with strategies you think will work for you.
What worked for me the first time around was movement, especially during contractions...a birthing ball works great for this. Warm water and a breathing technique also helped. I made it a point to focus on breathing for four breaths in, and four breaths out during each contraction, and try not to “fight” the pain, but give into the contraction and relax your body as much as you can. Birth is as much mental as it is physical.

Something that helps me during contractions is to find a spot on the wall or a picture and just stare at it, let your mind go blank and just focus on deep breaths.  It helps immensely.  When I let the pain overcome me and notice my breathing is off and my focus is elsewhere I just remember my spot, stare, and focus on my breathing and almost magically the pain gets back under control.  
Yes, labor is painful and depending on how you handle and tolerate pain it may be more or less painful for you than someone else.  But women have been doing this for centuries/millenia.  We are built for this and we can do it. You can do it. You are stronger than the pain.

I just dont talk to people about it. They seem to love to frighten pregnant women for no reason instead of giving facts. 
Lol I kept getting told my baby would kick so hard  would hurt. But here I am at the end of 33 weeks and it's no worse then it was before.

Don't be anxious. First labors can be so peaceful too! I was in labor with my first for 17 hours. Did get some really light painkillers, but not because of pain, just to help me rest a bit. They made me not feel the pressure which kept me from dozing off and I was able to sleep. My birth was really great, I said I'm definitely gonna do it again right afterwards. Did not tear, nothing. Just be open to everything. Be open to try out positions, the tub and such. You're gonna rock this! Promise!

I am not sure how I am feeling and I am a FTM. I am 36 weeks as well and I feel like the best thing that has helped calm my nerves is to be educated. I am sure as it gets closer those nerves are really gonna kick in. But you got this!!

I'm 36 +2 today and pretty nervous for the labour part of things. I've just been trying to educate myself as much as possible and prep myself - about all I can do! I remind myself of all the other babes that are born and that I can get 'er done too!

I’m only scared of it bc I have GD and my friend had GD as well and lost her baby at 36 weeks so that’s why I’m scared.. I’m not scared to give birth cuz I have mentally prepared myself and I know it will hurt

Completely normal feeling. 
This is my 3rd pregnancy but I’m still anxious. This is also my 1st set of twins though, so I think my anxiety isn’t over nothing. 
It’s a big deal bringing a child into the world and anxiety comes with that, it’s to what extent you allow it to control you that possibly makes it either a problem or a motivator.
