My aunt named her daughter Lily a year ago. My husband and I really like the name Lily. Would it be wrong to name our daughter Lily?

I know a lot of people are ganna say “It’s your kid. You can use the name” or “no one can claim a name” but if you guys are close or if the children will be around each other occasionally, I personally don’t think it’s ok. 
Now, if the aunt lives on the other side of the country and you barely even remember she exists sometimes than I would say yes.

Alter the name a bit like Lilyana or something more rare and nickname lily, so it doesn’t cause family drama if the family is like that(speaking off of some things I’ve seen on the app😂 people are very petty about baby names)

I wouldn’t... too close to home, and there are too many other names in the world.
My cousin (whom we see a few times a year) gave her dog the same name as my daughter and I found it to be super irritating... While my daughter does have a name that I know some people give to pets, honestly so does her daughter and I wouldn’t dream of taking her daughter’s name and putting it on a pet... I understand you are talking about a human-to-human name, but to me it was kindof like saying “I definitely don’t care about that part of my family and for that reason see no conflict”

My partners cousin named the same as him just different last names and his middle name is his uncles name my name Sarah-Jane and my aunties called Jane, my partners auntie daughter called lily this is our third baby I’m calling her Amelia-Lily together, you don’t seem to live close or see each other much so I would say use it, if that’s the name your set on having.
