Being induced???

Question

So I am type two diabetic, but it is controlled and I am currently 24w4 days pregnant baby is doing great and so am I. They said that they will induce me either 37 or 39 weeks. Is their anything I should know or do if they induce me or what I am kinda freaking out about it but idk what to do or ask or where to go really. Any information on any of you ladies who have been induced? Any helpful advise?

I don’t have any experience with the diabetes. But I was induced at 40w with my first. I knew ahead they’d induce me by 41w if I hadn’t gone into labor. Ended up being induced at 40w due to my weight, baby measuring big and repeated failed non stress tests. 
Only 22w now with #2 but they’ve told me they will probably induce again at or before my due date given my first baby was 9lbs6oz. 
Overall went fine for me. At my hospital and for me they administer the first meds (inserted medicine on a string up near cervix to soften) in the late evening. Then you already as best you can, with pulse monitor on your finger and two monitors strapped on tummy for baby. Get checked in the morning, got another dose of meds (hold in your mouth between cheek and gum) while it dissolves to get contractions going. I started feeling period like cramps, my water broke in the hospital bed, cramping intensified and eventually got an epidural. I didn’t end up needing pitocin to the very end. All in all it was about 24hrs from first meds to baby being born. 
Advice I was given that was good, was if you really aren’t in labor when they start the first meds and you don’t live far from the hospital, let hubby go home and get a good night sleep with his phone volume on high! From what friends and nurses said usually that first 10hrs of meds is usually very uneventful. Hubby will be more rested and better able to take care of you during the harder/longer parts of delivery. 
I’ve also heard induction can be more painful than naturally starting labor because you move through stages faster. So maybe be more open to pain management techniques. I have no experience to back that statement up but was very happy with my epidural.

I’m a diabetic too and my doctor told me that they would induce at 38/39 weeks . He made it seem like they do it for lost women regardless . I know some women that got induced that said it was actually preferable because they had time to prep and didn’t feel rushed etc . I’d say as long as your sugars are under good control and your eating right and not too much your baby should measure fine . Most women that aren’t controlling their sugars have really big babies because the placenta is essentially just feeding them sugar water .

I would ask what their typical process for induction is and then research the methods so you know what you’re getting yourself into. No need to be scared! Pain is an inevitable part of the process, so all we can do is get through it as best we can!

Normally the issue with diabetes is that the baby gets too big. They are trying to avoid a C-section by inducing you while the baby still fits. You'll get a growth scan to estimate the baby's size around 36 weeks and they'll set a date based off that.

They thought they were going to have to induce me. However about 8 days before induction they swept my membranes that didn’t do anything. They decided to swee them again 3 days before my induction date and that night I went into labor. Maybe ask if they are going to consider sweeping membranes before.

I was induced at 38w5d- my induction was relatively easy and successful. It started the night before so that I could get some sleep before the big event- as I was planning to deliver vaginally. I didn’t progress enough, so I ended up with a c-section. 
I was able to eat after they started the cervadil (inserted vaginally) and then it was removed after 12 hours. It was not painful to be inserted and I was still able to get up and go to the bathroom through the night. I was hooked up to monitors externally at first and then moved to internal monitors the next morning. Once I had internal monitors- I could no longer get up and around.
