Baby #2 Birth Story 💖🌸
11th of May 2020 I had my last midwife appointment at the which I wasn’t to thrilled to go too.
I was 40 weeks pregnant and it was my due date. The night before I had gone into Labour and Delivery to get checked out if I was losing fluid which I was worried about, but other than inconsistent and not painful contractions I was sent home.
When I went to the clinic on the 11th of may the next day, I was told I was 2cm dilated still and very engaged, my cervix was super soft too. The doctor gave me another stretch and sweep and it was painful compared to my last one and joked “I can feel babies head move, I could easily just break your waters now if I wanted too”.
While we were walking out to reception I told my husband, stuff this we are having sex and getting this baby out! He was like noooo!
We left and were walking to the car when I suddenly felt so much pain like menstural cycle at around 1:46pm. We got into the car and we were driving home and that’s when they just got stronger and kept coming every 7 mins or so, we arrived home I hugged my two year old son and got a heat pack to go to my room.
While I was in there the pain just kept getting worse and worse, I went to the toilet and was spotting which I was told was normal but the pain just kept getting worse, my husband came in and asked if I was okay and then my mother-in-law came in too and I went to the toilet and my undies were soaked in red bright blood. They said okay let’s go to the hospital and I said no incase it’s not labour, but the pain was unbearable so we left.
I got to the parking lot of the hospital and I screamed so loud everyone was watching me, we enter the hospital and the security guard says “is this an emergency” and I said no shit it’s an emergency i’m in fkn labour!
Anyway!
We got to the labour and delivery unit and I just couldn’t walk, I was in so much pain! I kept asking for pain relief or the epidural because I couldn’t take it anymore and they said they needed to check me first and put the drip on before anything else can happen, they checked I was 6cm dilated already!
I begged for the epidural and they said it was coming but nothing was on it’s way so I asked for any sort of pain relief so they gave me the gas, I constantly begged please put it higher! The midwife said she was but actually she didn’t put it up at all and there was no epidural coming! They wanted me to give birth naturally because my contractions were every 60 seconds.
The pain was so bad I kept begging for help and for pain relief, I had so much pressure on my bum that I just needed to push and just randomly I felt a pop and my waters broke!
I then got on all fours and held onto the bed while on it and just needed to push, I screamed the whole hospital down.. babies head was stuck and apparently she was turning blue so she needed to come out! They flipped me over on my back and said push!!!!! So I pushed and she came out.. I ended up getting a 2nd degree tear and needing stitches and getting postpartum haemorrhage.
Overall I am so blessed to have my baby girl in my arms. I am so proud of myself for doing it without the epidural and going natural.
My labour was really quick 3 hours and my pushing was 10 minutes.
My experience this time round was very different to my sons which I got an epidural for and was in labour 10 hours and 1 hour of pushing.
I am so in love with her and my son!
