Vacation with Baby

Kaitlyn • Married, 26, 👶🫄

So my husband and I usually go to the beach every summer in June. We decided not to go this year because we have a 5 month old (6 months in June) and we didn't want to try and do a vacation this year. We figured everyone would probably be miserable, especially the baby, so we decided to just go next year when she'll be 18 months and able to enjoy it more. Well his father has asked us if we want to go to the beach in the fall around September/October. By then our baby will be 9-10 months old. While I do think it may be easier on her when she's a little older, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I'm a SAHM and my husband works 50-60 hour weeks, sometimes more. This means that he really doesn't do much with the baby. He does what he can and recently kept her by himself for the first time, but he really doesn't do much when it comes to taking care of her. I'm kinda afraid I would be doing the lion's share of watching our daughter while we're on vacation and I would end up needing a vacation from our vacation. Also I don't want our baby to be miserable. We'll most likely go to Charleston or another beach in SC or NC because that would be the shortest drive (About 5-6 hours). We'll obviously stop as often as we need to, but I really don't want our daughter to be miserable the entire drive there and also I don't want her to be miserable while we're there either. Anyone who has gone on vacation with their baby, I would love some insight. It's hard to tell what she would be like 5 months from now. She has started sleeping through the night occasionally and has been stretching feedings to 2.5 hours now (she's breastfed), but these aren't really indicators as to how she will be in October. Please help! I really want to go to the beach, but my baby comes first and I don't want either of us to be miserable!
