How to announce to close family during covid?

Wondering how you guys are doing it? In person  but no hugs? Over FaceTime or the phone? Or just waiting for a while to see if covid calms down in your area?

I took a picture of my daughter holding the ultrasound picture & text it to our close family and friends. This was back in the beginning of all the quarantine stuff. I explained how I’d much rather do it in person but that I wanted them to know. We told them after my first ultrasound. Last week I found out the sex, and I dropped off confetti poppers at all of their houses for them to pop... so it was all individual lol some of them face timed me while they did it.

To announce the pregnancy we found cute mugs that say “grandpa est 2020” and “grandma est 2020” and a little card that said “just a little note to say... a little baby is on the way” with a picture from the ultrasound for both sets of parents. We asked them not to open (faked it as a huge easter present... which was true lol) until we were all on a zoom call. It was a huge hit. We are announcing the gender somewhat the same way via zoom with a sweet announcement card but our parents will need to scratch off the part that reveals the gender. Not optimal but still sweet. All found on Etsy!

We told our parents over Easter so it was a bit ago... but what we did was print two pictures, one normal with a eggs and a stuffed bunny and one with a board that said baby #2 due in Nov and him wearing a shirt that said “so cute my parents are having another. Then I put both picture in a frame so the announcement was hidden behind the other photo, and then mailed them the frame. Once they got it we FaceTimed and told them to open up the back of the frame so that it was still like opening a surprise and we got to see their reactions. It was still fun!

We did a quiz via zoom and the first letter of each answer spelled out ‘we are having a baby’... watching families faces work it out was so fun and really special!! 🥰

So we had this cute picture idea we were gunna do for my dad bday. Well, I went to my first appt Friday and I told my husband “wouldn’t it be funny if I just send a pic in the text and say “did I forget to tell y’all?”” And my husband said DO IT! So that’s what we did lol but it’s my 3rd so it’s not as big a deal as a first timer.

We told my parents over the phone. When we told his parents, it was his moms birthday and they all did a birthday FaceTime, so we announced then.
