What was hardest thing about being first time mom ?

Hi ladies just curious see what everyone hardest thing was as first time mom. 
I had a few lol but one I struggled with was trying to cut a newborn nails omg lol that was soooo hard. Sleep deprivation at beginning and breastfeeding was challenging I love my sleep lol

That everyone has an opinion on how you should do things. My MIL moaned that I wasn’t using a walker because her kids had one and ‘it didn’t do them any harm’. 
I had a couple of unwanted opinions about the fact I wasn’t leaving my son for the day with other people. If I’m at home (my mat leave is a year long) then why would I? 
The list goes on. And on. And on...

Lack of sleep is a killer and definitely the worst part. It turned me into an emotional mess that cried for weeks straight.

I found the first 4 weeks incredibly hard. My son would cry no matter what you did with him, then I would just end up in tears! Turns out he had a milk intolerance! He was like a different baby once he settled on his new prescription milk. He’s now 8 months old and back on regular follow on milk! I’m also 9 weeks pregnant with number 2🤪 so it didn’t put me off that much😂

My mil hands down is the hardest part

For me the hardest part was the first month... had to wake up every 2 hours because my son was so tiny and had jaundice.. we were staying with my in laws because my husband couldn't get any time off work (and my in laws were fighting alot) and then the first like 6 weeks of baby blues... it was one big mess... but once we got on a schedule, we got back home, and my baby blues were gone... it felt like everything just kinda flew bye... hes now 17 months old and im 32 weeks pregnant with his sister

For myself, I would say breastfeeding for sure and sleep deprivation. I struggled with breastfeeding for the first 6 weeks. I did everything I could to do it. The stress from it and disappointment in myself was so discouraging. I felt like a terrible mother. After 6 weeks my supply was so low that my son was pushing himself off of me. Once I switched to formula everything changed for the better. I just had to accept that I couldn’t breastfeed. As for sleep, my lactation consultants had me on a strict routine for feeding and pumping that I never got more that 3 hours of sleep at a time, so that didn’t help with my stress (which was hard on my supply). Plus every month was different with sleep patterns, my son would start sleeping through the night for a while then he would go through a regression, teething, or a leap and he wouldn’t sleep. He’s 15 months now and still has nights where he wakes up. So let’s just say I haven’t caught up on any sleep yet.. I’m just used to it now!

Oh gosh...many things but my top would be breastfeeding and how my body had changed. We all hear about the love and excitement of having the baby but you don’t always hear stories about how tough the breastfeeding can actually be. I ended up on a three step plan (breastfeeding, pumping and supplementing formula). I did this routine round the clock for 6 weeks and saw lactation consultants and went to breastfeeding support groups. I was beating myself up emotionally over making this all work. It was AWFUL! It took my daughters pediatrician saying, “I am concerned about your mental health.” to snap me out of this ridiculousness. As soon as we switched to formula my life changed and I got to enjoy her instead of dreading the feedings. FED IS BEST! My son was born and I refused to pump. I breastfed him 10 mo and supplemented with formula in rice cereal from 4 mo on. I’m pregnant with our last and honestly will go into this relaxed. We will try breastfeeding but won’t force it if it doesn’t work. Best wishes to all Moms! It’s a tough job at times!
