12 year old watching newborn for 15 minutes?

Okay so I need to run to the store real quick which would take 15 minutes it’s like 2 blocks away. I trust my 12 year old she’s very mature for her age. I have my 3 week old baby that I’m hoping to put to sleep so I can run real quick but idk if I’m being irresponsible by letting my 12 year old watch him? Any advice?

I wouldn’t but I’m just over cautious and an over worrier. If you have no reason to worry then why not.

12 is more than old enough. When I was 10/11 I was watching a 6 week old all day 5 days a week the entire summer. Unless you have an irresponsible kid I woulsnt worry at all.

If you have to I’d say leave your phone with your son so they can call 911 for any reason. If they don’t have their own phone.
Just be as quick as possible!

I would not leave a 12 year old with another child; briefly alone maybe but even then the legal age to be left alone where I am is 14.

As long as you trust your 12 year old with the responsibility, sure. I was watching my newborn sister for hours at 11 years old.

I wouldn’t? Why can’t they all go with you? What’s so important at the store can it wait until everybody can go or you can get someone to watch the baby.

You should be fine. It sounds weird but I was literally 7 years old watching my TWO new born baby sisters by myself (didn’t have the greatest parents lol).

I was 5yrs old being forced to take care of my baby brother. Everyday when my mother would leave for work, his deadbeat dad brought him to me and that was it. I got beat if he cried to much...I think 12 is a good age to watch siblings...as long as u feel they are responsible enough
