Hospital social worker called CPS? Was this routine or am I being falsely accused of child neglect?
Yesterday morning I took my 4 week old son to the hospital because he fell out of my bed and I wanted to make sure he was okay. What happened: I am am exhausted mother of two and that night my 4 week old had been cluster feeding. Every time he ate I would burp him and put him back to sleep in his bassinet. After one of the feeds I was burping him and was so sleep deprived I accidentally fell asleep with him on top of me and he eventually rolled off of me and onto my carpet.
At the hospital: the social worker asked me what happened I told her the story. She asked me about my home life all of which are positive and there is no abuse in my life. She wrote down everything she said if all the scans came back clear this was going to be it and children services weren’t going to be notified. when the “interview” was over she asked me if I needed anything she got me a water and went on her way. I sat comfortably knowing I wouldn’t dream of harming my son.
The results of the scans showed no fractures and all was well and then the doctor discharged my son and I and home we went.
This morning I got a call from CPS saying they want to come to my home Thursday to meet with my sons and I face to face. She says in the file it says “unsafe sleeping” I do not sleep with my 4 week old it was an accident and I am very paranoid about sids and all. This seems suspicious that she has an “open case” for something “just standard procedure” I’m not worried for her to come to my home I’m just a little upset and confused. Does it sound like she twisted my words or added something and now I’m being falsely accused?
