Jade for a girl?

So idk if I’m having a boy or a girl. Everyone loves my boy name- Oliver. When I say Jade for the girl everyone is like 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️. My husband picked it. He’s Chinese American. Jade is a big deal in China. If you don’t like the name, tell me why please.

I love the name Jade! I always thought it sounded like a strong girl name and that’s what I think drives people away from it. If you and your husband love it then that’s all that matters though. It’s a beautiful name. 💕

My husband and I are Taiwanese Canadian, we’re naming our baby girl 玉梅 which is Jade plum blossom. I love it it because jade is elegant and strong while plum blossoms are associated with perseverance and strength as well since they are one of the first flowers to bloom after winter. It’s also a combination of my grandmas name 啊梅 and my mother in laws name玉英.
We will have a completely different English name though so that all her Canadian and Taiwan documents are separate.
