struggling to get my boy to drink from a cup
i need to start thinking about getting my boy transitioned from bottles to some kind of cup but he doesn’t seem to want to drink from any of the cups i’ve tried (pics below of what i’ve tried; nuby 360, tommee tippee free flow sippy and a transition soft spout sippy, plus a free flow solid spout that the health visitor gave us at his 5 month check)
when he was 6 months old i started giving him sips of water with solids and he took to it just fine. then after a while he just started spitting the water out most of the time. just recently we went through a milk-rejection phase (for a few weeks) and i’d try his milk in these cups (instead of just water) and he’d do the same thing.
so he either spits the liquid out, refuses to put the spout in his mouth, or he’ll take the cup and either tip it up and watch the liquid run out of the spout (the free-flow sippy styles), bang the cup on a surface, or just plain launch the thing across the room. if i take the cup off him he throws a tantrum!
with the 360 cup, he doesn’t seem to know what to do with it and just chews on the rim instead.
i’m getting anxious about getting him to transition to using a cup instead of a bottle! anyone gone through anything similar? did a particular cup help?
