Anyone have an HSG done?

Can someone tell me the process of getting a hysterosalpingogram (HSG)? Is it painful? What were your outcomes?  
My doctor is sending me for one just to rule out any issues with blockages and such. He said it also can increase pregnancy rate.

I did not find it painful. It was quick. Uncomfortable but it was over fast. It really was not nearly as bad as I had myself thinking it was going to be. I didn’t need any pain medication or anything and no cramping afterwards. Everyone is different though. Maybe take Advil with you in case you have cramping afterwards? I took some with me in case but I felt fine. I did however have some bleeding for a few days. Definitely take pads with you in case.

Take some Advil about 30 minutes before your test. It will likely be uncomfortable as there can be some cramping when they inject the dye. I cramped pretty significantly despite having taken Advil first, but the pain didn't last long. I had some general discomfort for a couple hours once it was over, but it wasn't bad. I spotted for a day or two after my test. The results came back showing no blockage for me. I was lucky because both the nurse and the x-ray tech had gone through the procedure themselves so they were very sympathetic. I hope your test goes well and that everything is okay. Try not stress too much. It will probably be somewhat painful, but the pain is short-lived. Don't be afraid to let the tears out if you feel them coming. It's perfectly fine and normal.
