maternity leave ?

for those of you who are working moms ( more so essential workers ) when are you planning to go on leave ? i don’t necessarily get “ maternity leave “ it’s going under as disability unfortunately but that’s beside the point .. my friend who works in the same company same position said she went at 36 weeks but suggested i even go at 35 but not past 36 ? my job is physical labor high volume and i originally worked 45-50 hours right now i’m averaging 37-40 from hour cuts on my store . i’ll be shortening my days because my backs been giving me hell but i don’t want to leave to early but also crave the time to just enjoy my current two before third one arrives lol

I don’t know how your leave works but the guideline right now is to take off at 37 weeks to quarantine to decrease risk of being covid positive at delivery. That recommendation may change for us come August though. So if your leave works in your favor and you still get time off after baby I would go on leave around 37 weeks. My leave is good for 12 weeks so I’d rather spend it with my baby, but I think there’s a way I can at least go on leave at 37 weeks with a note but just won’t get paid for it.

I’m due 8/25 but had to go on leave early at 27 weeks because Of mental health reasons. I felt guilty leaving early but I realized mental health is something to take care of before baby gets here. I respect all you moms still working I couldn’t take it anymore, I felt suffocating...

I’m going at exactly 36 weeks, already put it in - it’s unpaid leave and saving the other hours for maternity for up to 16 weeks so won’t be returning till December

I plan on going in sick leave when I’m 35 weeks because I’m already getting bad anxiety (I lost my son at 39 weeks and I have a lot of appointments this time around) I don’t plan on going on maternity leave until baby is born. I’m in Canada though so I can take a year off to spend with baby.

Most likely July 31st will be my last day. However my OB may want to do my cesarean at 38 weeks if I don’t pass my 3 hour glucose that I am currently sitting in the office doing. So I would start around July 24th. Washington State and my work make it possible for a total of 18 weeks paid leave. With my first I only took 7 weeks unpaid because my company I worked for then was selling and I needed to be back to finish up paperwork and due diligence. I’m looking forward to the longer time with my husband, toddler and newborn. Actual due date is 8/10.

By law I gotta stop working at 34 weeks. If there are health concerns, earlier. But I’m pretty sure I can pull through till 34. Last time I left at 33 weeks and with my first I worked till 3 days before my son was born (contractions started) but I had my first in the US with no paid maternity leave so I didn’t have much of a choice

With my son. I started leave at 37 weeks due to some personal issues at home. Would have worked another week but couldn’t emotionally had him at 39 weeks. That was the longest 2 weeks of my life (even worse than the two week wait between ovulation and testing). I was hoping to go naturally on my own but was induced (high risk with type 2 diabetes) 
I’m currently 28 weeks. I’m exhausted and hate getting up in the morning but I feel like I might be able to handle going on leave a little later unless they induce me early. This go round I will have paid leave through my short term disability but it only pays for 6 weeks so I’m going to try to work as long as possible with the hope they induce me a little early (she’s measuring large and again I’m high risk)

I teach and will not be starting leave technically until the day I have her. I'm fairly certain we will be virtual in the fall. If not, I wont be returning until second semester

I’m a bedside nurse, and I plan to work all the way up until she comes. I’m actually scheduled myself to work the day before my due date. We have to use out leave first, then we are given 6 weeks of disability... and I want as much time with my munchkin as I can get!
