Where do you keep your onions/ potatoes ?

Curious as to know where y’all store your onions and potatoes in your house? How do you keep them fresh? And keep them from smelling. And where is a place should absolutely not store them?

Either in the basement, we have an old house with what's traditionally called a "potato basement". Or in the veggie tray in the fridge if I know I'll use it within a day or two.

I keep them in a big wooden bowl on top of a low cabinet in the kitchen. They don't smell. When I was a kid, my mum kept the potatoes and onions in wooden baskets in the cold room in the basement.

In summer I keep them in the fridge (we don’t have air conditioning) but otherwise I keep them at the bottom of my pantry

we have bread cupboards which have a rolling door (kinda works like that of a garage? in that you roll it down instead of closing the door so it's well ventilated) so that's where we store them. generally any dry dark place will work.

I open the plastic bag they come in and place them loose in a bowl
Keeping it under my sink- where is airy and dry....
