*L I T T L E M O O N. - To my beautiful little baby. - Being pregnant during a pandemic has been tough. I know pregnancy isn’t straight forward for many anyway and, there’s people out there much worse off than us. It’s been hard making decisions without all the facts that most new parents get, we’ve had no antenatal classes that I was so excited to attend and your Daddy is now missing scans as well as midwife appointments. Chances are when you arrive we will also miss out on postnatal appointments so we will have to try our best to track things such as your weight ourselves. They’ll be no baby classes to attend and worst of all your family will need to meet you either over FaceTime, through a window or at a 2m distance. Meaning we also miss out on all those first time meet photos for you to keep. - I’m one of the lucky few who had friends surprise me with a virtual baby shower. A day I never thought I’d get due to lockdown and, although I’ll never have the beautiful bump photos with our loved ones I want you to know they all love you and are so excited to meet you. Whenever that may be. - I know you’ll struggle to take to new people when you get to meet them as you’ll only really know Mammy and Daddy, I promise we will go at your pace for introducing you to them and that when you do meet them it’s because it’s totally safe to do so. - I guess through this time I am thankful for a few things. I’m thankful that your Daddy has been able to stay home with me and watch you wriggle around lots I’m thankful that I don’t have to get properly dressed in the scorching heat I’m thankful for the Mammy’s I’ve met going through the same thing and their amazing support But, most of all I’m thankful for you. Without you Mammy would have struggled so much more during this difficult time. You are the shining beautiful bright moon at the end of an awfully dark tunnel. I’ll forever be grateful for that. - I love you so much already & I know that’ll continue to grow. Love, Mammy x
