Buying him a wallet for nothing ....

Ok so the other day I bought a wallet that I customized to put my bf name on it. I’m bad at keeping surprises, not a special occasion or anything I just like to buy him stuff and I told him what I got,, it still hasn’t arrived and all he said was “do I have to use it?” And I was like 😒 wtf are u serious ? And he said well his sis had bought him a wallet w his name on it before and he’s never used it that he just likes plain wallets and that I shoulDve told him before buying, we weren’t arguing we were just laughing about it but deep down I feel kinda bad cus he’s not going to use it but have it there as a memory he said . Should I let it go ..
