Husband doesnt like my makeup?

Sometimes my husband is really rude to me.
I was previously trained as a makeup artist. I love playing with makeup and doing unique looks. I recently got a new eyeshadow palette with some intense colours (Morphe Sunset Beats)
Today I did a unique look with some yellow orange red and purple. When I came out of my dressing room he says to me
“Wow.. you sure are playing with your new makeup huh?”
I just quietly said uh huh. (Keep in mind I don’t often use bright colours, because I don’t want to embarrass him. Usually I just do some natural shadow and winged liner, which he also asked me not to do for our wedding he asked for me to not do winged liner)
Then he says
“Its just not really...normal.” While making a disgusted face.
It really hurt my feelings as we aren’t going anywhere in public today so it doesn’t really matter what it looks like... As long as I like it.
So I went back to my dressing room and took it off then he comes in and says 
“I didn’t tell you to take it off. You did that yourself.”
Am I wrong for being upset? I just feel like sometimes he’s so mean to me and puts me down.
We have been together 6 years and married for 8 months.

He is being very emotionally insensitive towards u, he mades a disgust face so u got sad and took it off and he says “you did that”, come on.
U deserve someone who appreciates your artistic expresión, your personality and that doesnt give AF about winged liner.

Your feelings are valid. Your man should hype you up and be supportive even if it’s not “normal” wtf is normal anyway?! 
Different scenario but my man in no way follows astrology or believes in it but is supportive and will listen to me talk about the new things I’ve discovered or learned. He will randomly just ask if I learned anything new or what’s happening in the stars lately, etc. Because he cares about me and my interests and is supportive no matter how weird they are or if other people think it’s “normal”.

You’re right to feel the way you’re feeling . There’s plenty of nicer ways that he could have told you his opinion about your make up . Something makes me feel that your husband might be a bit insecure and that’s why he’s bringing you down . I would have a genuine conversation with him . Also I wouldn’t change something that you like,  just cause he don’t like it . If you like winged liner then wear it , it shouldn’t bother him it’s not on his face . Also remember it started with make up , what if next time you gonna wear a skirt for eg. And he doesn’t like it . Are you gonna change ? Unless there’s a valid reason do not change who you are for another person . Remember it always starts with little things like this . Rock you liner and your colours hun.  💖

I think it's clear he likes a more natural look but he's being pretty rude about how he expresses it. 
Maybe sit him down and explain this is something you're enjoying and he's hurting your feelings. Maybe bring up the fact that you've already made a compromise by not wearing your own style in public out of respect to his opinions. Ask that he make a compromise by being more sensitive when you do choose to wear it your way.

Makeup is literally an art form. Him dictating how you can do your makeup so you don’t embersss him seems like a huge red flag. The way he says things sounds really dismissive and rude. I would be pissed. Definitely have a conversation about how he says things and tell him how you feel. If he dismisses it I would see it as a showcasing of him not caring about you or your feelings or your interests which is a huge dealbreaker for me

Your feelings are absolutely valid.  Just talk to him!  My husband would make fun of me for it, but I never wear makeup like that, would suck at it lol, and that’s just how our relationship is.  But if he hurt your feelings you need to tell him!

I mean I wouldn’t personally be upset. I think it’s worth having a conversation about what he can say when he doesn’t like a certain look. It’s okay that he doesn’t like it and I don’t see an issue with him saying he doesn’t. But maybe you can tell him that if he doesn’t like it to just not say anything or say “oh that’s not my favorite look” or something. Like he said, he didn’t say to take it off. He’s not going to like every outfit or makeup look you do and you’re not going to like every outfit or haircut he has. I think it’s fine to express your opinion, even unsolicited, but also for the other person to know it’s okay to still express themselves that way. 
Also my boyfriend hates winged liner too lol. I could see him requesting for me to not wear it on certain days. But he knows I’ll still do it whether he likes it or not. 
I dyed my hair blue, green, and purple for nearly all of my teen years. I received a bunch of comments and it didn’t usually bother me because I knew it was weird and atypical. But I also knew I loved my hair those colors despite it being weird. They didn’t have to like it or praise it. I had to build the confidence to just say “oh well.”
