Across an average day, how much independent play time does your toddler under 3 get?

How old are they and what sort of things do they do?

Mine is nearly 18 months and tears around doing all sorts. Looking at his books, dancing in circles, scribbling with crayons (which he does independently although admittedly I am lurking nearby in case he tries to eat anything or draw on said books), playing hide and seek/peepo, playing with Duplos/blocks/shape sorter/stacking rings, rolling a ball around, trying to jump/stand on his head, stealing pillows off the couch and taking them all over the house, bashing on the piano, rolling around on the floor making odd moan-giggles while he tears up a tissue, stamping on a piece of bubble wrap, pointing at EVERYTHING and asking for the name of it, making animal noises...it goes on..
Honestly it would be quicker to list what he doesn’t do, which is willingly take good naps 🤔
He comes and demands my participation for some things but otherwise is content to do his own thing, always has been.

As much as she wants, but she usually demands my attention. For sure less than an hour per day is she playing independently. I try to encourage it as much as possible and I’ve had some success lately.

My daughter is 18m she plays tons by herself inside in her ball pit , or with plush animals, loves watching Moana and tangled over and over, she also draws on her little magnetic board so she gets a decent amount of time alone 4+h , and she gets the same amount of time with me and daddy, we sit with her and use her easel with chalk and markers so we can monitor where she writes and we also enjoy sitting outside and let her play in the yard alone collecting flowers on in her pool, so overall she’s great alone , great with us involved and takes very decent naps. ☺️ a perfect child honestly. 30weeks now with #2 we shall see how the next one goes

For my 2 year old it depends sometimes she wants to play alone with out me or anyone else other days all she wants is to play with me or someone else my current situation allows for her to play with her 3 year old cousin almost every day but some days it’s an hour or two other days she hardly plays with me at all

Our son is 2 and he has as much independent play as he wants. At daycare, he’s with other kids, but at home he’s an only child. Some days are better than others for sure. Sometimes he’ll sit and look at book for 20 minutes by himself. Other days he won’t do an activity with us for more than 20 seconds.

My son is 3 and because I’m working full days from home right now, he has lots of independent play time. He plays with cars, does puzzles, colors, reads books, plays dress up. We have all kinds of stuff for him to get into. I also keep educational videos on in the background so when/if he slows down, he can watch some of those.

My kids ages 3 and 1 pretty much independently play all day. I’ll set some things up for them... like a kiddie pool which I’ll supervise or sometimes I’ll push them in the swing but for the most part it’s independent okay. It’s so important to be able to independently play!

Mine just turned 1. We both work full-time without daycare at the moment so he’s left to his own devices a fair bit of the day. He learned how to walk a couple weeks ago so he currently spends a lot of time walking laps around furniture for fun lol. He plays with his toys, tries to climb the stairs, and just roams around investigating everything.
