Smile Direct Club - good choice?

Hey girls! Has anyone used this service? I had braces when I was a child but after my dog ate my retainer I couldn’t afford to get them again. Now my bottom teeth are very crooked as they have moved to their original positions. 
I want to know if this type of service is a scam or if I could see progress with them? I do not have dental insurance and feel that a traditional orthodontist will be twice as expensive, right now I was reading quotes around $1900 for Smile Direct. its something that makes me very self conscious and would like to get it fixed.

Honestly go to the dentist. I was going to do Smile Direct but you have to pay each month and it’s for like 2 years if I remember right. It’s not worth it in my opinion. It’ll cost about the same to go to the orthodontist and get clear braces or braces. It just seems better because it’s a payment plan (which most places let you do anyways)

I used it. It hurt but I assume not as much as normal braces. I had a pretty good experience. Things moved well. When it was time for my retainer after the program was done they didn't fit, I told them and they didn't do anything. So for months I just wore my last set used to sleep instead of a retainer. I ended up going in to one of their shops and did refinements, so another 3 or 4 sets. I did that, everything looked great, then my new retainer didn't fit again. They sent me a new one. Also didn't fit. Weirs because all of the aligners fit fine, but the retainers weren't the same shape as my teeth, like it was too wide, all 3 retainers. So now a year and a half later my teeth have shifted back, not to what they were before I started, but not the end result i had hoped for. After pregnancy I may try to wear my old ones again to get them back to where I want them
