If someone replies to your text after 12+ hours later what do you do?

I feel like if I reply straight away it’s like I’m glued to my phone or that I’ve revolved my day around waiting for them to reply.

If I waited to reply then I would forget to reply completely lol it’s more time consuming to sit and think about the person you’re ignoring.

I don’t do the tit for tat stuff. Seems juvenile to me. So making someone wait just because you did is silly. I respond when I see the text.

It depends if its important or if I can be bothered to reply. I'll leave messages for a while if its not important and I don't feel like talking to them and I hope everyone does the same to me and doesnr feel obliged to message me back ASAP

If someone took that long to reply to me I would probably wait an hour or two..but that’s just how I am. If I know they are actually busy working or something then I would reply after maybe 30 minutes but if I know they’re not busy then I won’t overly invest my time back.

I have to control myself not to instantly reply. I try to wait some times. If in the evening, I try to wait until the next day especially if I think the person intentionally slow replied to me.
If it was someone I was pursuing romantically, I would start to get the hint depending on why the delay (work? Know they are doing something specific-working our? Project?)

My partner replies quite quick pick it unless he’s working he’s slower sometimes, but my SIL goes on what’s app and ignores me for hours or days or what ever but I’m not a ignorant person so I will reply when I can be bothered always the same day.
