Anyone refuse the glucose test?

Question

Has anyone refused doing the glucose testing? My first pregnancy I couldn’t keep the liquids down and they were never able to really give me a reading...I really don’t want to put myself through the glucose test again, is it normal to refuse it? I eat healthy, have a good diet, I know that sometimes has nothing to do with but it’s not like I necessarily fit the category or check list for it.

Nope, I wouldn’t refuse it. It doesn’t have anything to do with diet. I would do it. Or if nothing else, ask your doctor about alternative forms of monitoring/testing. Undiagnosed/untreated GD can be super dangerous for both you and your baby.

It has nothing to do with how you eat or your lifestyle. That's why some fit mom's get it and some obese mom's don't. It's the pregnancy hormones changing the way your body processes glucose. 
You need to figure out a way to handle it. It's very important.

My friend is thin and fit and eats healthy af and had it with her first pregnancy. 
It’s really important for you and your baby. Just do it.

if you have undiagnosed diabetes during pregnancy it effects the baby  and can even cause stillbirth maybe read about what gestational diabetes does to you and the baby especially undiagnosed and then maybe see if you would still refuse ....

Talk to your doctor about how you couldn't keep the drink down last time and see if they offer alternatives.  If they don't you should still try. GD unchecked is really dangerous.

Why would you want to avoid that?! It’s good to know if you have it or not. You can be the healthiest person and still get it. It has to do with the hormones the baby gives to you during pregnancy which causes it......don’t refuse it

I had to eventually with my first pregnancy.
I puked the drink up two different times testing.
I eventually gave up and signed the paperwork refusing.
I refused the finger pricks for two weeks too.
I was 19 and naive. Didn’t know the importance of it.
I ended up having a small 6 pound babe thankfully no gestational diabetes.
My second pregnancy I was able to get the drink down.

I did the 1 hour but ate beforehand, it wasn't so bad. But after my first (horrible) experience with the 3 hour,  I refused the 3 hour because it made me sick for 2 days, and I had to care for other children etc, but I had to monitor my sugars at home as if I had gestational diabetes. It was a pain. You can't just skip the testing altogether. Maybe you could do jelly beans instead of the liquid?

I didn’t refuse to do the test but my ob had other juice options. I drank 21/2 cups of orange Tropicana for my glucose test. Maybe you can ask your ob office if they have other options

I have never and won’t. The test sucks, I had to do the 3 hour with both pregnancies, but it for the health and safety of me and the baby. A women’s health, size, diet, etc aren’t a clear sign one way or the other.
