Dating apps?

Question

So I am ready to settle down and begin a family. I am old fashion and ideally would love to meet that man in person. I have done the dating apps Tinder, Bumble and Match but I have gotten no luck. I have tried them on and off for a few years but never dated anyone off of them. The people I did date I met through family or friends.
I also get embarrassed, feel desperate, or get very overwhelmed with multiple conversations on these sites. 
So do I continue to look online or do I just wait until I meet that man in person? I have had people tell me to wait and people tell me to go online.. 
I am conflicted but also don't want to be single for too long or forever.. I am 26 and will be 27 in August. No kids.
Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions. Also tell me how you met your spouses!

I didn't go to any dating sites. But I did meet my husband of 12 yrs online. We met in a Christian chat room called Christian. Later we both found out that we had already met once before in passing when I was 14yrs old. I didn't realize at the time and at that age I didn't really care. We chatted on and off for 6yrs online and never realized we'd met before until we started talking face to face. God was preparing us and we didn't even know it.

I know 2 couples who met on Christian Mingle and got married shortly after. Both have a history of fast marriages (within months of first dating). One couple has 2 kids together, married 6 years now I think - 2nd marriage for one, 1st for other. The other couple is older with grown separate families and retired, married for 3 years now I think - 3rd marriage for one and 2nd for other.
Before I met my husband, I tried dating sites like Match but never really liked anybody it paired me with to go on a date with them. I didn't even get matches on some of them 😣. But turns out it's because my husband was never on them and God had a better plan and time for us to meet. Looking back, there is NO way we could of met and been at a better time or place or ready in BOTH of our lives if it weren't for God and his timing. It's a long story but we met at a bar randomly of all places. We use to be kinda hush hush about us meeting at a bar cuz what good stories come of those usually, but now we're proud and don't care. It's our story. Anyway, that was a decade ago and still going strong. 1st marriage (and only 😉) for us both. 
In my opinion, just being yourself and doing things you like to do is the best way to meet someone. They will see you for you and you'll have something in common already and something easy to talk about together. All my friends who meet someone online end up not liking each other or not having anything in common with, same with the married couples mentioned above. Pray for God to send someone to you. Be ok if His plan is to not be with anyone, but trust that He did not make you to be alone. Trust His plan and timing will work out even though it's hard to see right now and you can't take anymore days being alone. He is working things out that you don't know, getting you and your future husband's paths and minds aligned. Things you cannot understand right now, but you'll be thankful and will only see and understand why it had to be the way it is/was in the future. 💖

It's not a dating app. It's a site that has clubs based on interests (ex: knitting, rugby, healthy eating, foreign languages, etc).
That's actually how I met my husband. I liked meeting people this way because it's based on things you like (common interests) and there's no pressure. Plus, you can make friends while you search for Mr. Right.

My husband and I met on Bumble. I was 31 or 32, can’t remember. It was in God’s timing though because it was very fortuitous that we met. I lived in one state and he lived in a neighboring state and he just happened to be passing through my state. If I hadn’t been browsing Bumble at just the right time when he passed through my search distance, we never would have met 💕 Don’t give up though. I used Bumble for a while before I met my husband. I can’t imagine life without my husband. He was worth the wait.

The best advice I was ever given and continue to give to other women who are serious about dating... get involved. Volunteer places, sign up for church activities and put yourself out there. The kind of men that you will meet that are active in churches or volunteering are 1000x more decent hearted men than anyone you will ever meet on any shallow dating site. 
Think about what interests YOU and what causes matter to you and weigh on your heart, then go volunteer there. Food banks, homeless shelters, big brothers big sisters, humane societies, etc. There are so many options. You'll find a man with a great heart AND a common interest that you are both invested in.

I chose eharmony. The others are too much hook-up focused for me. (Not that it isn’t a thing on eharmony too, but I feel less so). It is just an avenue for me, and I’m not super focused on it. I don’t think there is a wrong way to do it, online or not. It is just whatever you are comfortable with.

We met in college when I triped over my now husbands bag in the cafeteria.  However nearly all my friends met their spouses in Church or through christain events or freinds. One had an arranged marriage,  her parents were friends with her husbands uncle and both were looking for a spouse but didn't want to date, they have shared values and a similar outlook they are a good match. I believe God who choses our 'times and our habitations' can be trusted to find our spouse too!

I met my hubby on eHarmony, and have no issue recommending eHarmony to anyone. Before joining I read the book by the guy who invented it (it’s called Falling in Love for All The Right Reasons), which was actually one of the books my sister and her husband were supposed to read as part of their premarital counselling. I respect it because a lot of research and experience went into the whole model and people are matched on 29 dimensions of compatibility. It’s designed for people who are really ready to meet their life match. My husband and I are from different cultures but our personalities and priorities are very well paired. It’s kind of amazing.

I'd be so so so careful with online dating and/or finding someone online. I'm actually against it, in general. Yes, good relationships can come from them, but what I've seen with the people in my life is that they just end up getting hurt. Recently, my father-in-law used eharmony. He found a woman and within 3 months he married her. Then within 3 more months, left her. Turns out (according to him) she was a crazy person pretending to be someone she wasn't. I had told him from the beginning that he shouldn't have rushed it and he should not do online dating. He did anyways. With online dating/searching online, not only can someone pretend to be someone else, but you don't get to see that person interact in a different environment. You only get to see them or talk to them when they're with you. You don't see them at church interacting with others and serving. You don't watch how they even treat others. You don't have mutual friends you can go to and ask about them. You literally have to go off what they tell you. The fact that this woman my father-in-law married, her family doesn't even talk to her should have set off red flags. She made it seem to him that they're the crazy ones. Only after they got married he saw her true colors. It's not this bad in every case, but you have to be careful with it! Don't let your emotions run wild, but use your head to think about who you want to date. Despite that awful situation with my FIL, eharmony would still be the best in my opinion, because the other ones are dumb and are about hookups and lust more than the desire for long-term relationships.
