Would this offend you?

So I am a crafty person and I like to make thoughtful gifts for people that usually go along with a regular gift for birthday and holidays. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I told him I figured out the perfect thing to get him and I was really excited about it. He then told me he doesn't want thoughtful gifts anymore he just wants money. Would this offend you or am I just over emotional?
