Boyfriend doesn’t want to get married

Hey guys I have been with my bf for 7 years now . I had a 3 year old son when we met who he’s been an amazing step dad to and we just had our own baby a year ago. Every time I’ve brought up the marriage talk it was always a “not now , maybe in the future, I’m not ready. He’s 2 years younger than me. But 7 years, a baby and a house later I just didn’t understand why not. He recently told me he doesn’t see the point of it and it’s not something he wants. That broke my heart because it’s something I want but I mean I have to respect his wishes too right? Idk how to feel or how to go about it. Has anyone else gone through this or something similar? How did you handle that situation?
