Is a bottle sterilizer necessary?

Did you or have you used a bottle sterilizer? I have read that hot soapy water is sufficient but someone is offering me theirs second hand.

You can always boil all parts of the bottles in boiling hot water for 5 minutes on the stove.

I used my sterilizer daily as well. Didn’t like the hassle of boiling. Also was super convenient sterilizing my pump parts. Definitely worth the money!

I had a preemie... I sanitized/sterilized bottles and pump parts once daily using one of the Medela microwave steam bags. They're awesome and don't take up much space! Once he was a few months old, strong and healthy, I didn't sterilize unless I bought something new. I just washed with soap and hot water. I don't think sterilizing is really very necessary with a full term, healthy baby. But to each their own, if it gives you peace of mind to sterilize, then it's certainly not hurting anything!

I heard/thought it was important for the infant stage. We had the one for the microwave that fit our bottles. It was super easy.  At a certain age we just started putting them in the dishwasher. I will say bottles in general are the bane of existence, we are going with the Kiinde system this time. 😍

With my first i boiled everything. On my second now and will not have time or energy to do it again and again. So i bought a sterilizer this time around since i have a toddler running around

Definitely NOT necessary, but I absolutely love mine. It sanitizes and drys the bottle parts, so no waiting for them to dry!

My mother was the one to recommend I put one on my registry. She said it was a huge timesaver.

I sterilized before initial use for bottles, nipples, components, pump parts, pacifiers etc. but then would wash rather than sterilize each time. Did the boiling water on the stove version of sterilization 5-10 minutes depending on instructions. My firstborn was primarily breast fed until 8 months.

Used my sterilizer daily. Easier and quicker then boiling water and going that route. But to each your own on this one! ☺️
