What’s the best birth control method in your opinion and from experience?

I turned 18 last month and I’m not sexual active at all but I’d still love to get on birth control in case I later decide I want to be sexual active. Please choose which method works for you and if you have time please explain why.

I had my first iud placed January of 19 and loved it! I had Paraguard. It is non hormonal, you don’t have to worry about it once it’s in and it’s good for up to 10years.

I strongly advise against the patch, I absolutely hated that thing. My body is very sensitive to birth control, I've tried many different kinds. The nice thing about the pill is that you can get a low or even an ultra low hormone dosage as they are finding it's just as effective. Though having to take it everyday is a pain. I can't speak from personal experience, but I've heard a lot of women love the nuva ring. 
There's also different brands so I'd recommend looking them up and reading reviews, you have so many options so it's good to really research it before you pick.

I’ve only had the implant (implanon) but it works great for me because it’s one of the most effective methods (99.9% effective) and you don’t have to remember to take anything in order for it to work. Just one quick procedure and then I’m good for 3 years! My husband and I can have sex without worrying about condoms all the time and I would 100% forget to take the pill if I went that route lol. There are some hard side effects that come from it though so if you want to discuss it more or need more info feel free to message me! :)

I was on the shot for about a year and I loved it! Didn’t really experience any weight gain and my periods disappeared, but I was personally more susceptible to the long term possible side affects. I was on the pill for about four months and the high maintenance of it SUCKED, plus seeing the pills made my family uncomfortable (which it’s none of their business but if you’re worried about privacy, it’s something to consider). I just got my IUD placed a few days ago after stopping the pill and I’m glad I won’t have to worry about it for at least a few years, I got Kyleena because I prefer hormonal methods. Make sure to talk to healthcare provider and they should give you a rundown off all the different types!
