1,074.3 oz freezer stash in 11 weeks!

Er

It doesn't look like it, but there are 12 more bags behind those ones you see, plus 2 more on the door. This is the best organizing system I've seen and I'm so glad I did it! I'm not going to be building my stash up anymore, as I'm weaning off and I'm just now making exactly what my baby needs. But this is my record! I feel proud of myself.

With my first, I exclusively pumped for 6 months due to her just refusing to learn how to latch, but I still wanted to give her breastmilk. I made about 800 oz in my freezer stash in those 6 months, but the bulk of it only came after the first 2 months where I didn't know I had to pump a lot to increase my supply. So 2 months in, I started pumping 8 times a day and 40 oz was the most I made a day with my first.

Now with my second, she was a preemie born at 34 weeks and so I had to get back to it since she was in the nicu. I got to it and was once again pumping 8 times a day. My milk came in fast and I was determined. After she came home, I still had to do bottle feeding because she needed some supplement, so I breastfed sometimes then I'd bottle feed. Well, I just preferred bottle feeding so I went to exclusively pumping again. But I knew I could only do it for a short time because I have a 2 year old who also needs my attention. But the only way I was able to find the time to get all this was due to this lockdown. I never would have been able to dedicate more of my time to pump for my little girl if there wasn't a quarantine.

Now I'm just pumping 3 times a day. It's sad to see my supply go down, but it's what's best for my family. I've been already mixing frozen milk with fresh/refrigerated milk to get her used to the taste (my first didn't like the taste). Then I plan on mixing it with formula as well. I haven't done the math yet, but I hope I can give her this breastmilk until she's 6 months while stretching it out with formula. We'll see! I'm just super proud of myself. ☺

Also, if anyone is wondering, I used Lansinoh storage bags. They were my favorite because I can fit way more of them in gallon bags then I could with the medela brand I tried. So I highly recommend Lansinoh if you are planning on having a freezer stash like mine. Some more tips: as you can see, freeze them flat (I like to freeze on the door) then store them in a gallon bag and organize by time and date. I like to write out how many oz are in that bag so I can know how much I'm storing.
