Best way to utilize a labor and delivery gown?

Are the dresses best used to labor inn and potentially get all gross between the blood, the sweat, and the tears (or any other fluids) or are they nicer when used after labor once you get cleaned up so you cam be comfortable and cute for pictures?

After delivery I put my own clothes on. Yoga pants and a tank top. Far more comfortable than being all exposed in a gown. So I would say use it for labor and delivery and a nursing nightgown or pajamas for after

I ended up going through 4 hospital gowns during labor. I threw up on myself after getting my epidural. After that my water broke unexpectedly. after my baby was born and put on my chest she had her first poop on me. After they removed my catheter I also peed on myself. I was just numb enough to not have control. And that’s not even accounting for the blood, sweat and tears. I’m glad I saved the robe I got for after. It was nice to have something cute and pretty to wear after to make myself feel a little better. That and it wasn’t cheap so I’d be pissed if it got covered in literally every possible type of bodily fluid.

My friend got me one and I never ended up putting it on. I was induced and it ended in a c-section. After that I wasn’t able to change into something cute until it was 24 hours after the surgery and I was able to stand on my own. Even then I didn’t want to hassle doing that when I was uncomfortable.

If you're bringing a cute one I'd save it for after birth, when you get all cleaned up. I labored in the hospital gown but I made my husband help me take it off because I got way too hot while pushing. I was full on nude while giving birth. That wasn't the original plan but in the moment I didn't care. Just get the gown off of me.

Labor is messy. I just labored naked one time and in a sports bra the other time. Didn’t put in my own cute clothes until after delivery and a shower :)

I used mine to labor in it really didn’t get that dirty but i did change into a hospital one after I gave birth
