Hospital tips
Hi mamas, just got home and thought I would share a couple things.
Wish I had brought to the hospital:
- eye mask - lots of bright lights in hospital room
- small refrigerator bag for refrigerated snacks/leftovers (like a frozen lunch box for example)
- tennis or lacrosse ball. Birth made me intensely sore, and as soon as I got home, I rolled out my muscles and it helped a lot
- water bottle (so I wouldn’t have had to keep asking the nurse for water refills)
- Velcro swaddle (husband got the hang of blanket swaddle immediately, but I did not, and he was not always awake)
Glad I had:
- Depends instead of the big mesh panties. I did end up adding pads to the depends, but I felt more secure in them. I tried both.
- nursing bra + robe to wear instead of postpartum hospital gown
- very loose outfit for heading home
- chapstick and headband for labor/delivery
- coconut oil for baby’s bottom, meconium is very sticky
- nipple cream
- White noise app on my phone
Didn’t end up using
- onesies, other than when he went home
