nope not overreacting at all . naming a baby is special , that’s what they’ll be called forever . & you & your so should have the right to make that decision , i mean you are the one carrying the baby for 9 months !! i would just laugh it off & just call baby a cute nickname . you guys can keep the name a secret until birth .

Be sure to get your husband on board with his mom not being in the delivery room. I said no to my MIL with my first baby and she tried to skirt me and go straight to my husband. I struck the fear of god in my husband bec he was like, “umm no. It’s up (my name) bec I’m not trying to upset/feel the wrath of a 9 month pregnant woman..”

Not overreacting, however be prepared for this still happening when you move out. I dealt with this with my In laws. Was told it was their god given right to be in the delivery room. I said to hell with that

You need to set strong boundaries now, moving out will lessen your stress but you’re the mom and it’s your choice what you name your child (with fiancé not mil).

You're not overreacting. Even if there wasn't a single person named after him. She had her chance to name children if she wanted someone named after him she should have done it herself. Also let her know she will not be in there now so it's not a surprise. When you talk to your doctors before delivery, i.e. at appointments, ask who you need to tell who is allowed in, tell them you have an overbearing parent who you don't want in there and you want to ensure that as part of your birth plan it's just you and your husband/whoever you've ASKED to be in there. It is a hospital, it is medical, you have every right to choose who is in that room with you.

You are not overreacting my mil is the same way! Before we found out she was always saying it was a boy which is only annoying cause she had all boys and my mom had all girls and she always acts like she does everything better. We ARE having a boy and are giving it the same initials as my husband with a similar first name the same middle and of course same last name. My husbands middle name just happens to be my mother in laws maiden name cause he was named after his grandpa on her side. Now she is calling it a Dino-Prat baby completely cutting my side of the family off when in fact it is a Larson-Prat baby🙄 she also is trying to invite herself to fly out a whole week before the due date and be there for the birth when my husband and I already decided we wanted it to be just us and would let everyone know when I’m in labor. this is just how they are ! It’s frustrating

There’s a good chance with all the COVID precautions they wouldn’t even be allowed in the delivery room even if that was your plan. A lot of facilities are only allowing 1 support person. Even though you’re not due til Dec, there’s a second wave expected in the fall and while that isn’t something to celebrate, it could make the delivery room a non-issue! Sorry to hear they are stepping over the line in so many ways, hope you guys get to move out soon!!

You’re not overreacting. I think she’s having a hard time with the death of her so and I totally get it. You should tell her how you feel however if you don’t want to name your baby Casey and that you don’t want her in the delivery room now. I had to do that with my mom in law because she wants to be very hands on with everything and I told her I never wanted anyone but my husband in the delivery room with me and she got it. She didn’t want me to name anyone anything tho so I didn’t have that to tackle. But I would definitely talk about it now before it snowballs into something worse and harder todeal with
