1st grandbaby the favorite?

So my son is my MIL first grandchild. She doesn't have another one on the way or anything. But the other day she made a comment that no matter how many grandbabies she has, he will always be her favorite because he's her 1st. I thought it was kinda a weird thing to say out of nowhere. And my SIL, who wants kids but doesn't have any yet kinda got offended about it. She told her to get over it "cuz that's just how it is"... Is that true? Seems kinda unfair. The poor babies can't control who's born first lol

My mother treats my oldest as her favourite, even though she was the second grandbaby and my mil treats her first grand daughter as her favourite and prioritizes seeing her rather than my second daughter 🙄 it's stupid and not fair on the children

My parents didn’t do this with my kids (my son being 2nd grand baby and daughter is 3rd) BUT I saw my grandma do this with her first great grand baby.... She was or still is literally obsessed and loves her sooo much because it’s her first.... The girl is now 10 I think and still the same even though she has 3 others (2 being mine) 🤣
And I have seen my MIL & FIL favor my son a little bit more then my daughter but mostly where they prefer to give my son attention since baby has been born cause he gets jealous when they play with her 😅

Some people are that way and don’t even mean to be. My husband was the first child/ grandchild so he was favourited. My son is now the first grand baby as well. So we’re super popular lol. 
Our baby holds a special place being first born, but everyone will love the babies to come as well.

That’s pretty messed up.  I think grandmas are probably like moms as in you wonder how you could ever love another child more than your first but then when baby #2 comes it just happens automatically.  Once other grandkids are around I believe she will see things differently.
I have a kind of unique situation where I married a man with two kids already so my parents became nanny and pawpaw to them 10 years ago, they were their only grandkids and they love them as if they were their own.  After me and my husband had our daughter in November nothing really changed, my parents just look at as another grandchild to love.  I can definitely say they love them all equal.
On my husbands side there are 7 grandkids and there is some favoritism but it’s not towards grand baby #1, it’s towards grand baby #3 but I think that’s only because they raised that child for some time because his parents were very young.

My son was my mil forst grandbaby and he was the golden child until her daughter had a baby girl now my 3 boys are forgotten about its not right at all xx

My kiddos are grand baby #7 and #8..... when #1 was born the whole family sat around in awe... every crawl, every little move just amazed by my nephew... with my kids it’s like been there seen that! Also so much excitement happening that we don’t even pay Attention!! Even with my two boys the baby will attempt a crawl but my first born will do something more exciting (read a book, dribble a ball) it is what it is🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m a second baby myself

It just seemed so out of left field. we weren't even talking about future grandbabies or anything near the subject. just thought it was a weird thing to say... coming from a home with two other siblings, and lots of cousins, I know parents and grandparents have their favorites, they just never admit it lol  Her daughter wasn't very happy about it tho. Lol she told her something like, "so I should expect you to treat my children as second best all the time?" But yeah she says stuff like that all the time. My husband has even asked her if she thinks about stuff before she says it 😂

My mom said something like that in front of pregnant me to my nephew. My brother and sister in law both interjected and said something nice about my future baby. At the time I felt slightly hurt but I knew it was all talk. She loves my son equally it was just a silly thing she said at the moment. I wouldn’t put too much thought to it.  I say silly things to my son all the time.

My son is the first on my husband's side so I don't know about them. On my side he's the second (both boys). My parents 100% love them both equally! I would be so upset if they showed favorites to my nephew over my son. Even IF they actually felt that way they would NEVER say it.
