I had my first born child during the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic. I planned for a home birth but She came 6 weeks early on her own ready for the world on April 13th 2020. I began having contractions ( strictly back labor) 3mins apart on April 10th and I was showing all signs of labor the week before that. Around 8pm the night before I had my daughter I was in so much pain, trying to pack hospital bags. Make sure my dogs and farm animals had everything they needed before leaving for the nearest hospital an hour away. We were told once we arrived at the hospital we had to stay inside until we were discharged so we had to make sure we had everything. When we arrived I had to go through the emergency entrance since I wasnt registered with labor and delivery yet. Our temperatures were taken at the door, I was asked why I was being brought in and then handed a mask and told to wear it at all times. Once we arrived to labor and delivery I informed nurses my contractions were now 1 min apart and I was having this baby, but they insisted I went to triage where I shared a room with another woman and we both had to wear mask. We shared a bathroom and her husband had peed all over the seat so I refused to sit on the toilet during labor. I once again asked for another room and was denied it. Finally my boyfriend went to the nurses station and told them to put my in a private room now I was about to have this baby. On the way to the room I told my nurse I was having an all natural birth and I wanted little medical intervention. No epidural or pain medications, no cervical checks, freedom to labor in any position and most importantly no students doctors or nurses were to be present. When we got to my room they told my they were putting an iv in, I consented and they ended up giving me a student who had to stick me 3 times and blew both veins, so I refused the Iv. They put a monitor on the baby to check her heart. & Then I was greeted by a doctor who asked to give me a cervical exam. I told her no because I know I'm around 6cm dialated contractions back to back at this point lost mucus plug but my water didn't break I didn't think it was necessary. She sarcastically told me it was necessary and that I'm not a doctor so I'm not sure how dilated I am. At this point I got annoyed so I told her 1 cervical exam is all she gets to do I won't do any more after that. She did the exam I ended up being 6cm like I said and there was no sign of my water broken. I asked the doctor if we could take the monitors off so I can labor freely and I was told yes the nurse would be in a minute to set everything up and get me ready, 45 mins went by no nurse or anything and my contractions were so intense I had to get off that bed. So I had my boyfriend take the monitors off and the same nurse comes running in telling me I need them on now an I have to lay down. She then ask if I want an epidural after I told her no medication. She said I dont have to be so strong and I can get the epidural if I want it. I didn't get it. I'm laying in bed for another 10 mins and I start feeling like I need to poop. Still no sign of my water breaking. So I say screw it and I rip the monitors off and I go to the bathroom to pee and brace myself as my boyfriend goes to tell the nurses and doctors I'm getting close and I needed to get off the bed. The nurse runs into my room rips open the bathroom door and proceeds to stand in front of me. I ask her for some privacy because I'm in the middle of peeing and giving myself a pep talk and the woman says NO. I looked at her and told her to get out and just give me a minute and shes still standing there in the doorway so I get up and walk back to the bed she tried to hook me back up to the monitors I said no and then I got a huge wave of pressure in my pelvis so I ran to the bathroom and I started bleeding. I told the nurse it was time and she ran to get the doctor. Being my water never broke I requested the doctor DID NOT break my water by force but that I would deliver her in the sac and I wanted the cord cutting to be delayed until the umbilical cord was white. A wave of student doctors entered the room and at this point my body is starting to push on it's own. the doctors told me to stop pushing because they weren't ready yet and then they started getting the room ready which should of already been done. They put a large bag underneath me and then a female doctor shoved her hand into me for a cervical check I did not consent for. I screamed in pain and then next thing i know they inserted an long white item into me to break my water. The baby instantly started crowning and I began to holler very loudly. The nurses told me to stop yelling I was gonna scare the other moms and i had student doctors and nurses everywhere around me I couldn't even find my boyfriend's hand to hold onto. Finally my baby girl popped out and I quickly said I want her dad to cut the umbilical cord. They gave the cord 2 mins when they told him to cut it. He said it wasnt white yet and they said the baby got everything she needed already and to cut it. I quickly met my daughter and then she was taken away to the nicu as I laid on a blood soaked bed and cried bc I just went through the most exhausting traumatic labor that was completely unnecessary. Immediately after I had given birth i was hounded about given vaccines. which I declined bc we do a delayed vaccines schedule with her ped. I was then asked by another doctor to let the hospital do the vaccines and I said no. I know times were crazy in the middle of the pandemic but there was absolutely no goos reason I was put through that hell. If you've read this thank you. I hope you never have to experience this
