Big baby / hungry baby feeding

Hi ,

I’m a first time mum guys and my baby was a whopper at birth. 10 pounds 7oz he dropped to 9. Pounds 12oz after birth and is now back up at 10pounds 2oz.

My dream was always to exclusively breastfeed and it was going exceptionally well at first since he is a great latcher/ drinker (since he is so hungry) but he developed jaundice and the paediatrician said to only do 20 mins on the boob then top up with formula! (Biggest mistake)

Cause pumping wasn’t effective as my milk hadn’t even properly come in yet by that point. He’s 6 days old now and he’s always hungry even if I have him at the boob for hours. He now gets angry/ frustrated that my boobs are not quick and easy like the bottle and I am at my wits end!

I know they say jokingly ‘ha ha you get no sleep with a newborn’ maybe it’s actually true?

I feel like just abandoning breast feeding now and going to formula so I know that he is not hungry and actually satisfied / fed. He already eats hours at the boob and has formula top ups of like 70mls! Then he finally settles off to sleep eventually 🤦🏻‍♂️
