When do you start using tripp trap for a normal toddler chair?

So my 20 month old doesn’t fit in the tripp trapp high chair anymore, do I simply just take the high chair adapter off and let him sit in it as it is? It just looks so open and scary 😂. If you have the tripp trapp when did you convert to a normal chair? Thanks!
