Hi Ladies,

I need opinions...my husband and I have been TTC our 2nd child for years now and recently found out in January we were pregnant. Unfortunately due to neurological and chromosomal anomalies the pregnancy did not continue past 23 weeks. We are obviously devastated and after more testing it appears the chromosome anomaly is genetic and passed from my husband (my husband is a functioning adult so the genetic counselor is leaning towards this anomaly being benign). We have one live child who is 7 and he also needs to be tested for this anomaly and the neurological malformation to see if the two could have a relation. I’m obviously scared for those results but doesn’t change our love for him, if anything makes us more prepared for his future!

Anyways, the reason I ask about donor sperm is that our high risk doctor said we may need to consider it. We have had 5 miscarriages before this pregnancy as well. We’ve already made the decision to not try for more kids if our current son does come back with both the chromosome and neurological anomaly. At first I was opposed to donor sperm, it wasn’t even an option in my book. But now that I’ve thought on it more and the possibility of not having any more kids of our own weighs on me, I might reconsider...but I know convincing my husband is going to be a battle. Just curious if there is anyone on here who is comfortable sharing their story about donor sperm and how there SO handled it?
