Should I loose weight before conceiving?

Over the past 6 months have gained about 20lbs. I'm not fat but feel gross. I'm a little scared but don't want to wait 6 months to conceive. Thoughts ladies. I'm 35😞 anyone else feel this way?

I have personally always had a goal to get to my pre-pregnancy weight prior to TTC my next child just so I could start from a good place. I’ve always been very fit and athletic so I think abs have helped me maintain my figure throughout motherhood (not that one has too, but I enjoy a very active lifestyle). You will notice even in your smaller or thin friends who get pregnant if they lack muscle tone, proper diet, and exercise they’ll gain an exorbitant amount of weight that is very difficult to recover from which then makes post partum healing more difficult and discouraging (once again depending on your goals). I think you can do both, just be cognizant of your choices and lifestyle. Another pitfall I’ve seen women fall into is that they think they’re pregnant every month (and they’re not) so they up their calorie intake bc they’re craving sugary (or salty/fatty) foods prior to a period and think it’s “pregnancy” but it’s just good ole AF and our hormones plummeting through the floor. So just approach the two with awareness and recognition and I think you can navigate them successfully! Good luck my dear on both journeys! ✨💖✨

I had lost 40 pounds while trying to conceive. I had continue losing up until I found out I was pregnant.  The downfall was that I think that made it easier for my body to put on weight during the pregnancy. I wouldn't put off TTC to lose weight because your body might be at the same place at the end of the pregnancy either way.

I was losing weight while TTC last pregnancy. I stopped trying to lose weight once I got pregnant, but continued exercising, until the 40th week. Then I continued losing weight and exercising after my boy was born. I’m in the best shape of my life now, better than pre-pregnancy and stronger than when I did sports when I was a teen. Good luck!

I don’t think it’s necessary but I’ve been doing a lot of reading (I’m 40 and ttc #4) and a lot of articles talk about our egg reserve and the quality of our eggs the older we get, specifically 35 and up. Anyhow, being at a healthy place in life seems to have the potential to positively influence our ttc journey. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to lose weight, but I would just focus on good, balanced nutrition! You’ll start to feel better and I think it can potentially lessen any stress you might be feeling too! Good luck mama!

I lost 12 pounds while ttc . You don’t need to take a break for ttc . I used to walk for an hour daily and ate all healthy food . It took me 3 months to lose . I need to lose 10 pound more to come out of obese zone but I lost motivation because of not getting BFP . I will start again in July

I’m definitely with you on this one. I experienced a loss a month ago and had gained 15 pounds since the beginning of the year. Soon as I was up to it after the loss, I started my diet. I wanna lose weight but not put everything on hold while I do it. So I’m going to continue losing weight (down almost 10 pounds already), but I’m also not going to avoid trying again. I haven’t gotten my first post-loss period yet so that gave me a little time. If I can get close to my goal weight before we get pregnant again, cool. If not? Then God wanted it to be that way.
