VBAC turned to STAT emergency csection
My second son was due on 5/29. On Tuesday 6/9 I was still extremely pregnant and woke up around 7 starting to feel contractions. I started timing them pretty much immediately because they were pretty close together.
From the start they were 6 minutes apart and lasted for 30-40 seconds.
Of course, that day my husband was an hour and a half away at work.
I kept getting a stomach ache and spent a lot of time running to the bathroom. My son woke up around 730 and we headed downstairs.
At this point, my contractions were strong. At 8 I called my husband and told him he needed to head home. My contractions were about 3 minutes apart and lasting 50-60 seconds.
I was trying to keep my cool for my almost 2 year old and feed him breakfast and play with him.
I kept going into the bathroom and it helped a little sitting on the toilet during contractions.
I called my husband again to have him call my inlaws to get to our house when he did.
Eventually I turned on the tub and my son climbed right in with me.. I think he is going to be a future dula because he kept calm, poured water on my belly and each time a contraction hit and I was vocal he said "mummy stop doing that..it's okay mummy".
After what felt like forever my husband and his parents showed up. He quickly packed the car and we took the 20 minute drive to the hospital, calling on our way. Contractions now 1-2 minutes apart.
We arrived at the hospital at 10:05.
The hospital was expecting us and took us right into a room. I was trying for a VBAC. I immediately asked for an epidural lol. The nurse hooked up my belly and handed my husband the VBAC form that we had to sign. The nurse told me to turn on one side and then the other.
She then immediately called for people to come in and help as the baby's heart rate was dropping way too rapidly.
Next thing I know they are telling me they need to get him out immediately. I told them to take him. There were then no fewer than 10 people in my room trying to get all the paperwork, IVs and anything else done. They wheeled me out of the room before I could even say anything to my husband.
In the OR they told me they didn't have time to do a spinal tap so I would have to be put under which means my husband was not able to be in the room.
The next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery. They told me that my son was okay and was with my husband in the nursery.
He was born 33 minutes after we got to the hospital, at 10:38AM weighing 7lbs 15oz and 20 inches long.
He had flipped around and came out breech and not breathing AND had pooped inside me. They had to use some oxygen and some pressure but they were able to get him going.
My husband was told that he wasn't breathing and would need to be put on a ventilator which he said was terrifying..but they quickly gave him the good news that he was breathing on his own and was okay.
My husband told the nurses that the second he is stable that they need to bring him to my husband to do skin to skin.
Luckily, I had hand expressed a ton of colostrum and my husband was able to give my son what he needed until I could nurse him.
I got to meet him at around 12:30 when I was finally brought back to my room.
We were going to go home on Thursday but my sons bilirubin levels spiked and he ended up having to go under the lights for 12 hours which was so tough to deal with but my son wasn't bothered by it at all.
We came home yesterday and he got to meet his big brother and we're all settling in as a family of four.

We gave him the middle name David after my FIL who is the BEST "grumpy"
