Sex after pregnancy...

Hello all first time posting but don’t know where else to ask/talk about this. When I gave birth to my son, who is now 6 years old, I have a 2-3rd degree tear. I was so nervous about having sex after I had my 6 week check up but was given the all clear. My hubs was very supportive of my anxiety about having sex again and didn’t push it. As expected the first few times after giving birth hurt but guys it’s been 6 years and it still hurts! Is this normal? Yes I have talked to my OB/GYN. We have tried a couple different things that haven’t seemed to help. The last option according to my dr is to surgically recut where I tore and restitch it. Please tell me others have experienced this?
