Has anyone fallen pregnant on Paragard? (copper coil)

So I had the copper coil placed about 2.5yrs ago not long after the birth of my little boy. It's been perfect the whole time, periods on the dot basically just a bit heavier and longer what they used to be but completly used to it now. The last few months I haven't been able to feel the strings, however on doing a cervical smear test in April the nurse said the strings were fine so carried on as normal. I'm now 13 days late, none of my usual signs at all to indicate my period is coming but feel exactly the same way i did when pregnant with my little boy. I have done a test and it says negative, my doctor is telling me to wait another 2 weeks before testing again and possibly having bloods do double check, but surely that isn't safe if i am pregnant as the coil will need removinf asap? Has anyone else been in a similar position?
