Can you ask to transfer 2 embryos?

Ok so this might sound like a silly question but I’m so new to this IVF process. My husband and I have had a still birth, ectopic and several miscarries over the past 8 years! I’ve had a septum removed from my cervix, 3 laparoscopic surgeries and nothing to show but scars. I’m 35 he’s 37 and we want to give it all one shot, if the embryos are healthy would they transfer 2 at one time?

Because you are 35 it will likely be easy to get 2 transferred. I’m not sure what the risk of twins with 2 transferred is for 35, but at 28 with our issue being male factor my doctor flat out told us if we transferred 2 I would be pregnant with twins. We intended to do 2, and it was a battle to get there. We had to show we had done our research on risks of multiples in pregnancy and that we WANTED twins. Ultimately we were only able to transfer 1 because I developed OHSS. Now I’m pretty thankful because I’m terrified just getting ready for this 1 lol.

You can do two. My husband and I had to sign paperwork on how many we wanted to transfer, so I had to decide before. Just be prepared for twins if you transfer 2 and be okay with that. We only transferred one, I didn’t want twins.

They can transfer 2.  You just have to talk with them. They are going to go over how many eggs fertilized and all of that with you. After your retrieval or how evee your doing it.

You can definitely ask for 2. It’s not as common to transfer 2 anymore because of advances in PGS testing, but if you’re okay with the risk of twins then I’m pretty sure you can convince your dr to do it. Good luck 😊

I transferred 2 and I’m 26. My Dr recommended it and we are currently pregnant with Twins.

My clinic let’s me transfer two in Australia as I’m over 35. My FS strongly recommends against it but I can if I want. He did tell me a lady did that recently with him ended up with triplets and when one passed away took the other two so it was an awful experience for her. He spoke about the increased risk with multiple births and also the fact that you’ve got a 1 in 5 chance of twins with 1 embryo with ivf anyway.

Mainly just depends on your doctor some do and some don’t but since your 35 they prolly will. I’m 35 and my husband is 37 also and our doctor transferred 2 embryos on March 30th I’m currently pregnant with one baby.
